Social Justice Planning Call Sponsored by First Parish Church, Berlin, Tuesday June 30, 2020, 8-9PM
First Parish Church of Berlin has a long history of involvement in the social issues of the day. The downstairs comprising two meeting rooms and kitchen that many town people use today (at lest before COVID-19) were originally created to provide a forum for civic engagement in the abolitionist movement before the Civil War
We have heard from many in the larger community that with regard to the great social justice issues now before us, there is a real need for Education, Demonstration and Action.
Honoring our traditions and the values of the FPC Berlin community, FPC would like to offer its support for this community work.
FPC can offer:
• A physical “front-lawn” for demonstration
• An electronic “front-lawn”, i.e. a Zoom environment for administration and education
• A concentrated group of committed participants
However, while FPC pledges to be a contributor and supporter of the effort, the effort must be broadly based and have input of all kinds from the larger community. So while FPC is inviting you to consider venue we are offering, you should think of this not as a church project, but a social and community project. FPC therefore invites you to a regular zoom meeting that will take place each Tuesday from 8-9PM. We welcome all who are allied with the BLM movement or who broadly shares its concerns
Please zoom in and participate! The Zoom meeting may be accessed here (click this link).
